Greetings moose fans! The annual Moose Madness celebration in Grand Marais, held this year on October 21 – 23, is a fun-filled long fall weekend. Spend some time in Grand Marais and get a little silly about one of the Northland’s favorite animals, the moose (Alces alces).
There are all kinds of fun activities taking place around town, ranging from a Moose Medallion Hunt to Guessthe number-of moose dropping contests! Take part in any activity and earn “moose bucks” to exchange for a prize at Moose Central (the Grand Marais/Gunflint Trail Visitor Information Center, 13 N. Broadway Avenue). Hours are Fri. and Sat., 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sun. 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Friday, October 21

Bring your moosey creations (paintings,
jewelry, antler art, pottery, etc) to Eight
Broadway. Nita will display your art and
on Saturday, everyone will have a chance
to view your masterpiece. Vote for your
favorite. The winner receives the first
annual Moose Madness Peoples’ Choice
Ribbon!

The Garage – The local Girl Scouts will
have fun activities for kids of all ages. Face

Yarn Spinning Demo at The Market
Michelle Hoy is back, doing wonders with
animal fibers. Pick a colorful fiber from a
basket, and Michelle will spin it into a fun
and funky yarn.

North, 13 Broadway and have some fun on
the breezy shores.

Mosey (or Rut Run on the Rocks)
It’s fun. It’s silly, and it’s open to all! You
can run, you can walk, you can mosey.
Just wear your buffalo plaid or anything
moosey (Moose Madness pin from Moose
Central, moose T-shirt, hat, moose jewelry,
even mousse your hair!) and enter our fun
run on the rocks. Race starts at the sound
of a moose call in Bear Tree Park. Top three
finishers win a “medal.” Goofiest outfit wins
a gift certificate from (who else?) the Java
Moose.
