The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) and the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) announced that they have formed a new partnership that will combine the resources of both organizations to protect forest habitat.
“We are very excited about this partnership as it will enhance both MDHA’s and RGS’s ability to protect critical habitat,” said Craig Engwall, MDHA executive director. “We are stronger when we work together toward a common mission.”
RGS President and CEO John Eichinger added, “RGS and MDHA have a longterm commitment to protecting habitat for grouse, woodcock, deer and other species. While both organizations are centered on specific species, good habitat projects benefit an abundance of animal and plant life.”
The partnership will enhance habitat protection by combining the expertise of RGS’s biologists and habitat professionals with MDHA’s project management experience and its strong relationships with local governments and communities.
“This truly is a win-win in that we leverage the strengths of two great conservation organizations for the benefit of habitat in Minnesota,” said Engwall. Eichinger added, “This partnership will enable us to expand our existing habitat work in a significant way that will benefit both Minnesota’s natural resources and its hunters.”
In conjunction with this new partnership, MDHA is bringing on Joe Duggan as a consultant to boost MDHA in fulfilling its habitat mission and work on behalf of Minnesota’s deer hunters. Duggan, who has been a tremendous force for Minnesota’s natural resources and hunters through his work with Pheasants Forever, is excited about continuing his conservation calling in his work with MDHA. “Minnesota’s natural resources are under constant threat and I look forward to continuing my work to protect them,” said Duggan. Engwall added, “Those who know anything about Minnesota’s natural resources know that Joe has done as much as anyone on their behalf. We are truly excited to have Joe on board to help MDHA’s efforts throughout Minnesota.”
