Missed vote on referendum equals a no vote

In just a few short weeks, we will have the opportunity to support our school district, ISD166, by voting YES for the school levy.

Over the past several years, there have been statewide reductions in the school portion of our property taxes. This tactic may look good to some constituents when candidates run for statewide political offices, but it has been devastating for local schools in Minnesota. Because of this situation, ISD 166 has made huge cuts in the local school budget, including eliminating five teaching positions, three bus routes and four auxiliary staff positions. The list goes on, cutting everything from classroom supplies to building maintenance.

It is time for our community to step up and remember how important our school is, not only to the children and their families, but also to the health and vibrancy of Cook County.

Please remember that a missed vote is counted as a “no” vote, so it is vitally important that each of us find the levy referendum on the ballot (it will be after the vote for the new judge) and proudly state our support for our school by voting “YES.”

Please VOTE!
