Ski historian Greg Fangel will present a slide show, along with a sampling of antique skis unique to Minnesota, on Saturday, June 24 at the Schroeder Town Hall in Schroeder. The presentation will follow Schroeder Area Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Community Supper at 5 p.m.

Fangel has been collecting, buying, and selling wooden skis since 2002, while donating most of the sale proceeds to area ski and outdoor organizations.

Minnesota was home to five major ski manufacturers, a college professor who explored the South Pole on skis, a three-time mayor who managed the first Winter Olympics ski team, a native Norwegian who skied a race from Duluth to St. Paul, and a woman who was instrumental in getting Title IX legislation passed in the 1970s.
