Minnesota ranks 23 in the most puppy loving states

The pandemic has spurred many lifestyle changes and one of them has been that Americans have been adopting more puppies than ever. Tracking that information has been TOP Data Marketing Agency, a research-agency who collects and analyzes information and broadcast its findings via news media. Noting that National Dog Day was Friday August 26, a big day for dog owners, TOP Data unleashed a report about puppy loving states, and the report found that Minnesota ranks 23rd on the U.S. list of most puppy loving states. Taking the top spot was New Hampshire, number 1, followed by Oregon and Nevada. Folks in Mississippi were the least interested in adopting a puppy since the start of the pandemic. That said, folks in Mississippi might have been rich in dogs before the pandemic. Who knows?

Minnesota’s 2022 favorite puppy breeds in order were Labrador Retriever, Chihuahua, Mutt, German Shepard and Golden Retriever.

How were these results discovered?

“We analyzed puppy adoption levels prior to and during the pandemic to discover some very interesting facts about Americans’ favorite pets,” the report states, adding, “Whether it’s to combat feelings of loneliness or just the result of having more free time to invest in caring for a pet, Americans have been turning to puppies for comfort.” TOP Data’s study of the demand for puppy adoption was based on data from 500,000 adopted dogs and related Google search traffic volume. The company also surveyed 1,000 dog owners across the U.S. as part of their research.

So, what are Americans favorite dogs? Just like Minnesotan’s, the rest of the country chose Labs by 72 percent as the dog they most prefer to share their lives with. In 2022 ‘Max’ was the most popular name in America. Other puppy breeds that made the top five list in their states were Pit Bulls, Beagles, Border Collies, Yorkshire Terriers, Shih Tzu, Pomeranians, Boxers, Dachshund, and Australian Shepherds. But just because your breed of dog didn’t make the U.S. states top five list doesn’t mean your puppy isn’t number 1 in your heart of hearts. And, really, that’s the only list that really counts when it comes to ranking puppies.
