Minnesota History Player to visit GM library April 25

The Grand Marais Public Library will present Virginia Mae Hope (1921-1944), World War II Airforce Service Pilot, in a free history program at the library on Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m.

Virginia Mae Hope is one of Minnesota’s most interesting people. Some people led ordinary lives, others accomplished extraordinary things, but all faced the challenges of their times in history as best they could. See Virginia Mae Hope as she engages you with her memorable life stories as a female World War II pilot. Learn about growing up during the Great Depression, how Pearl Harbor affected the nation and what it was like for her to serve as an Airforce Service Pilot during World War II.

This event is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System, the Grand Marais Public Library, and funded by money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
