Schinn named Civilian of Quarter at Guantanamo Bay



Cook County Native Doug Schinn at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba, where he is the technical director of the base’s telecommunications system. He was named Civilian of the Quarter for his outstanding efforts during the Haiti earthquake relief effort in January. He retired from the Air Force after a 21-year military career.

Douglas Schinn
was named Civilian of the Quarter at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station for his dedicated and outstanding service during Operation Haiti Relief. TheNavy base was the center of the relief effort after the devastating Haiti earthquake last January.

Schinn is stationed in Cuba as a civilian along with his wife, Lynn Kolstoe-Schinn. In 2001 he retired from a 21-year-career in the Air Force with a rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

Schinn is the technical director of the naval telecommunications system at Guantanamo Bay.
