In addition to being a great fundraiser for the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department, the MidTrail event was a lot of fun. Gunflint Trail residents appreciate the local volunteer fire department and they show that gratitude at a number of events through the year. The latest was the Mid-Trail Fundraiser, held Saturday, August 18 at Gunflint Trail Fire Hall No. 1.

The event was a huge success, bringing in just under $10,000, thanks to an extra boost from an anonymous donor of a challenge match of $1,000. Donations were made to match that challenge.

Gunflint Trail residents and visitors enjoyed shopping at the boutique and flea market, which provided all kinds of interesting items. Auctioneer Phil Serrin kept things lively and got everyone bidding on the fabulous live auction items. Jo Ann Krause won the highly coveted Northwoods-themed raffle quilt.

Organizer Lee Zopff said, “Of course, the cake and drinks were appreciated.”

Zopff added, “Thanks to all who came out to show our support of the Fire Department!”
