US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) contacted the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office at 11:34 a.m. on November 12, seeking assistance with a man at the Grand Portage – Pigeon River US – Canadian port of entry found to be in possession of three grams of methamphetamines, three grams of the drug ecstasy, and $94,000 in Canadian money.
A Cook County Sheriff ’s Deputy responded, but it was determined that the matter should be handled by CBP. Contacted by phone on November 16, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Public Affairs Officer Brian King confirmed that the case is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. The suspect’s name has not been released and King said he could not provide any further information at this time. He said more details would be available when the investigation is complete.
