Mental Health First Aid is a groundbreaking interactive education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Participants learn a core five-step action plan which encompasses the skills, resources, and knowledge needed to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
Instructor Lee Berlinquette has met the certification requirements by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health. UMD Continuing Education will co-sponsor this training with the UMD Employee Wellness Program/Human Resources and Equal Opportunity.
