The community is invited to a memorial gathering for Artist James Korf, who died July 27, 2013. Since Jim’s passing, family and friends have been collecting pieces of his work to display at the memorial—a somewhat difficult task as his artwork graces walls and halls of homes and businesses from Grand Marais to Alaska to Chicago and beyond.

It is also challenging because some of Jim Korf ’s most famous pieces are too large to transport, such as the big walleye on the roof and the beaver dam casting on the front of the Beaver House or the Sleeping Giant mural at Ryden’s Border Store or the bull moose in front of Windigo Lodge.

Friends are invited to Betsy Bowen Studio on Saturday, October 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. to see some of his work and to share stories of this talented and unconventional artist whose legacy touched so many in Cook County.
