According to the Memorial Blood Center, one blood donation can save as many as three lives. You can be a hero to someone through the simple act of donating blood. Two opportunities are coming up to help fill the need in the Duluth/ Superior and Arrowhead Region. The “bloodmobile” will be visiting Tofte and Grand Marais in March.
The Memorial Blood Center is conducting a Blood Drive at the Zoar Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 1. Anyone interested in giving blood is encouraged to call for an appointment. To participate, call Polly Erickson at (218) 663- 7398.
The Blood Drive will also be in Grand Marais on Wednesday, March 2. To schedule an appointment for a donation, call Kay Levitan at (218) 387-2262.
To meet the needs of hospitals in northeastern Minnesota, Memorial Blood Centers must collect at least 2,400 units of blood each week.

45 minutes and includes registration, a mini-physical and the donation, with the actual donation time being less than 10 minutes. Donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.
