Melanie Stoddard of Grand Marais was a participant in this year’s Miss Minnesota Teen USA Pageant held Nov. 30 in Burnsville.
“We are overwhelmed by the response and caliber of all of the participants,” said Denise Wallace of Future Productions, state pageant producers for The Miss Universe Organization. “There is no better opportunity for ambitious young women out there today. The contests offer area women a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to advance their personal and professional goals.”
The competition was held at the Ames Center and comprised of three segments: evening gown, fitness/swimwear, and personality interview. Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 26 and be unmarried residents of Minnesota.
Melanie, 17, is the daughter of Diane and Jeff Stoddard. Her local sponsors include Naniboujou Lodge, Lutsen Resort, Gunflint Mercantile, Joynes Ben Franklin, Terra Bella Floral, White Pine North, Serenity Pines Creations, Odyssey Resorts, Lake Superior Trading Post, Drury Lane Books, and East Bay Suites.
Melanie is also preparing for a United Planet quest to Cuzco, Peru in February 2015. For three months she will work at an orphanage there. To donate to help her make the trip, visit www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/mstoddardperu/fundraisingpage.
