Will Hellner is the son of Glenn and Kathy Hellner of Grand Marais. Will played golf, acted in plays, and enjoys art. He also enjoyed LAN parties and target practice. After graduation, he will be going to college and then entering the Marines and attending OCS. Will said, “I’d like to thank my teachers for putting up with my sarcasm over the years, especially Jill. I’d like to thank my boss, Billy, for teaching me how to landscape and I’d like to thank Tom Christianson for teaching me how to weld. Good-bye!”
The Cook County News-Herald is proud to introduce the Cook County High School Class of 2010 to the community. Each week we’ll feature a short interview and photograph of a few of this year’s graduating seniors.
Taryn Logan is the daughter of Dana and Jon Logan of Grand Portage. Taryn participated in volleyball in 5 – 12th grades; basketball in 5th, 8th, and 10th grades; and fast pitch softball in 8 – 12th grades. She was a tutor in her senior year. After graduation Taryn plans to go to St. Olaf to study a subject in the environmental or criminal justice field.
Carly Jean Puch is the daughter of Jean Mathis and Scott Puch, both of Grand Marais. Carly participated in volleyball in 6 – 12th grades; softball in 7 – 12th grades; soccer from kindergarten until 9th grade; and band in 6 – 12th grades. Carly was a member of the National Honor Society in 10 -12th grades and served on the Student Council from 6th – 12th grades. She was also a class officer in 9th, 11th, and 12th grades. After graduation, Carly will be attending Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Carly added, “I could not have done this without my family, teachers, coaches, the community support and most of all my friends. I want to thank everyone who helped me along the way.”
Nuchada “New” Srisittipoj is the AFS exchange student daughter of Mark and Lori Hommerding of Grand Marais. New’s parents are Prayoon and Noot Srisittipoj of Thailand. New participated in cross-country running, cross-country skiing and is playing softball this spring. In addition to her stay in the United States, New was an exchange student in New Zealand for nine weeks in 2007 and in England for seven weeks in 2008. After graduation, New will go back to Thailand and finish one more year in high school. “I’m actually a junior,” she said. New said, “I’m really glad that I am here in the Cook County community. I’d like to thank my host family, friends, and all the teachers who always supported me. I will miss everyone. I promise I’ll come back!”
