Betsy Blume is the new statewide health improvement partnership (SHIP) coordinator for Cook County. She is replacing Andrea Orest, who has taken another job.
Some of you know Betsy. She has been working at Sawtooth Mountain Clinic since March 2020 as a Care Coordinator and medication refill nurse.
When asked to share a bit of her background, Betsy said, “I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, Golden Valley. I have been visiting this area, mostly upper Gunflint, since the early 90’s.”
Her decision to pursue life in Cook County said Blume, was her passion for “biking, hiking, kayaking and cross country skiing. They are the main reasons I moved here from Minneapolis a few years ago.”
Betsy is a registered nurse (RN). “I have worked in the hospital setting and also have worked as a case manager and coach for persons with chronic health conditions.
“I have a bachelor’s of arts in education; health and physical education but have not worked actively in the schools- kudos to teachers it is a challenging job!
“I am looking forward to supporting the community to continue to be healthy and well as the SHIP coordinator.”
In closing, Betsy added, “I am just learning to knit, so far so good.”
