On Wednesday, April 26 the Senior Center will be taking our new van to the historical Lutsen Resort. We will leave the Senior Center at 11:30 a.m. to experience casual fine dining while overlooking Lake Superior. It is always nice to have lunch with friends so I encourage you to call the Senior Center at 387-2660 and reserve your spot!
Medicare can be overwhelming and confusing. You don’t have to muddle through it on your own! There will be a New to Medicare presentation at the Senior Center on Thursday, April 27 at 10 a.m. There are individual counseling appointments available also with Marjorie Bottila and Steve Deschene. To schedule an appointment call the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800- 333-2433.

Everyone who goes will receive $5 in free slot play plus $5 off any entrée or sandwich in the dining room. You can register for this by stopping by or calling the Senior Center.

I would like to add a personal note. I have recently come back to work as Programs and Services Coordinator for the Senior Center after the heartbreaking loss of my son, Gunnar Anderson. I want to acknowledge and say thank you to our board of directors and the director of the Senior Center for patiently holding my job and for all the love, kindness, patience and support I have received from them – not only while I was gone but also as I slowly return. I have been blessed with a job that I love and the warm welcome back that I have gently been embraced with is deeply appreciated and cherished.
Cook County has a vibrant and active community of elders. Each week we offer Senior News to highlight our senior citizens. This week’s submission is about the Cook County Senior Center, courtesy of Programs and Service Coordinator Jes Rodne.
