On November 28 the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) alerted consumers about an undeclared allergen in Gunflint Trail Jams by Jan brand flavored syrups. The syrups may contain sulfites, an ingredient not declared on the label. Four flavors of syrup are affected: Blueberry, Raspberry, Chokecherry, and Fruit of the Loon Triple Berry. Market Distributing of Burnsville, Minnesota distributed the flavored syrups. Consumers should be advised that the products were distributed to retail locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
State officials have received one report of illness potentially associated with this product. People who have sensitivity to sulfites should be aware these syrups may contain sulfites. The firm is working to relabel the products in retail facilities with a “contains sulfites” statement. Products with expiration dates of 12/2/21 and beyond will not contain sulfites.
