The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. Nathan Michael Mercier, 34, Ontario, pled guilty Dec. 10 to charges of no proof of motor vehicle insurance and speeding (65/55) on Oct. 31, and was fined $330.
Cynthia Lee Monson, 43, Silver Bay, pled guilty Nov. 13 to charges of driving while impaired (DWI) on July 12. Sentenced Dec. 10 to 365 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $700 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $815.
Cheryl Ann James, 25, Grand Portage, pled guilty Dec. 10 to possession of a legend drug on June 25, the court having dismissed an additional charge of violation of an order for protection. Sentenced to 30 days in jail, stayed one year with unsupervised probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $50 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $140.
