The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. Colton Robert Deschampe, 20, Grand Marais, pled guilty Aug. 27 to minor consumption of liquor on Aug. 4, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail, stayed one year with unsupervised probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $150 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $240.
John J. Kaunas, 79, Downers Grove, Ill., pled guilty Sept. 10 to speeding (70/55) on Aug. 25 and was fined $150.
Devann Michael Pauling, 20, Grand Marais, pled guilty Sept. 10 to reckless driving on May 31, additional felony charges of criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm and fraudulent use of license plates having been dismissed by the court. Sentenced to 90 days in jail, stayed one year with unsupervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay costs and fines totaling $290.
Alon Slabodnik, 29, Ontario, pled guilty Sept. 10 to felony charges of possession of a controlled substance on Sept. 4, the court having dismissed additional related charges. Granted a stay of adjudication Sept. 10, sentenced to two years unsupervised probation with conditions, and ordered to pay fees of $2,500.
Ward Richard Danielson, 45, Silver Bay, pled guilty Sept. 10 to charges of DWI filed Aug. 26, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, stayed one year with unsupervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $1,590.
