Matters of Record


The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the punishment exceeds $150 and/or ten days in jail and/or includes one year of supervised adult probation. It is the Cook County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

Daryl Robert Bathke, 42, Grand Marais, Minnesota, pled guilty on February 28, 2022, to a gross misdemeanor of DWI – Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, on February 6, 2022. Convicted and Sentenced on April 11, 2022, to Local Confinement (180 Days – stayed for two years), two years of adult supervised probation, and conditions of behavior. Fines and fees total $2085.

Joseph Wess Grigsby, 25, Lexington, Kentucky, pled guilty on February 28, 2022, to a felony of Theft – Take/Use/Transfer Movable Prop without Consent, on September 5, 2021. Disposition was Stay of adjudication and Court Decision was Continued on April 11, 2022. Requirements include Local Confinement (2 Days with credit for time served: 2 Days), two years of supervised adult probation, and conditions of behavior including payment of Restitution and 40 hours of Community Work Service. Fines and fees total $800.

Stanley Carl Hedstrom, 74, Grand Marais, Minnesota, pled guilty on February 28, 2022, to a felony of DWI – Operating a Motor Vehicle with blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.08 Within 2 Hours of the incident on July 14, 2021. Convicted and Sentenced on April 11, 2022, to the Adult MN Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota, for 36 months (stayed three years), Local Confinement (2 Days Credit for time served: 2 Days), three years of supervised adult probation, payment of restitution, and other conditions of behavior. Fines and fees total $10,185.
