The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. It is the Cook County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

Cory Maria Dack, 36, Duluth, pled guilty Aug. 12 to speeding
(71/45) on July 31, and was fined $285.
Esten Jacob Nelson, 42, Grand Marais, pled guilty April 8 to
misdemeanor charges of domestic assault and felony charges of
terroristic threats filed Aug. 3, 2018, the court having dismissed
additional charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous
weapon and domestic assault by strangulation. Sentenced Aug.
12 to 90 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation
and conditions, and ordered to pay a $600 fine plus court costs
and fees for a total of $690.
Marshall Wayne Pedersen, 58, Grand Marais, pled guilty Aug.
12 to charges of driving while impaired on July 14, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, stayed one year with probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees
for a total of $1,085.
Mandy Nichole Theiner, 36, Grand Marais, pled guilty Aug. 12
to charges of driving while impaired on June 20, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, stayed one year with probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees
for a total of $1,085.
Curry Richard Thompson, 47, St. Peter, pled guilty July 8 to
charges of domestic assault filed March 20, the court having dismissed additional charges of assault in the third degree and interference with an emergency call. Sentenced Aug. 12 to 90 days in
jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions,
and ordered to pay a $300 fine plus court costs and fees for a total
of $385.
Floyd Peter Wiele, 58, Lutsen, pled guilty Aug. 12 to charges
of driving after cancellation and operating an unregistered ATV
filed May 11, the court having dismissed additional charges of
fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and fleeing a peace officer by a means other than a motor vehicle, and was ordered to pay
a $250 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $335.
Davis Harold Cronquist, 49, Forest Lake, pled guilty Aug. 12
to violation of a Forest Products Permit (exceed gross weight) on
July 30, and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and
fees for a total of $1,085.
John T. Laine, 54, Lutsen, was convicted Aug. 12 of failure to stop
for a traffic collision (injury/death) on April 4, the court having
dismissed additional charges of DWI, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana (less than 42.5 grams).
Sentenced to 365 days in jail, stayed one year with probation and
conditions and ordered to pay a $100 fine plus court costs and
fees for a total of $185.
Marcus Geoffrey Doane, 20, Menomonie, Wis., pled guilty
Aug. 13 to liquor consumption by person under 21 on Aug. 8,
and was fined $185.
Anthony Poyirier, 32, Grand Portage, pled guilty April 8 to
felony charges of engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with child filed Aug. 31, 2018,
the court having dismissed an additional felony charge of solicit
child or believe to be a child through electronic communication
to engage in sexual conduct. Sentenced Aug. 13 to 15 months in
jail, stayed four years with supervised probation and conditions,
and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees for a
total of $1,165.
Andrew John Soderholm, 31, Zimmerman, pled guilty Aug.
13 to charges of interference with an emergency call on Jan. 30
and violation of a domestic abuse no contact order on Feb. 4, the
court having dismissed an additional charge of domestic assault.
Granted a stay of adjudication Aug. 13 and placed on supervised
probation for two years with conditions and ordered to pay court
costs and fees totaling $300.
Steven Howard Nopola, 45, Silver Bay, pled guilty Aug. 13 to
driving without a valid license for vehicle class or type and violation of a Forest Products Permit (exceed gross weight limit) on
July 30, and was fined $1,100 plus court costs and fees for a total
of $1,185.
Brian James Arndt, 22, Orono, pled guilty Aug. 17 to speeding
(65/55) and driving after revocation on June 18, and was fined
$325.
Nathan John Jertson, 29, pled guilty Aug. 16 to driving after
suspension on May 18, and was fined $285.
Charles Edward Blackwell, 38, Bemidji, pled guilty Aug. 21 to
driving after revocation on June 2, and was fined $285.
Brooke-Lynn Kayley Kuizenga, 19, Ontario, pled guilty Aug.
21 to charges of possession of over 1.4 grams of marijuana in a
motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia filed Aug.
10, and was fined $285.
Nicholas Paul Wiegele, 22, Hovland, pled guilty Aug. 23 to
driving after revocation and open bottle law violation on July 23,
and was fined $385.
Dean Allen Finke, 48, Thief River Falls, pled guilty Aug. 27 to
driving after cancellation on July 21, and was fined $360.
Stuart James Benoit, 26, Lutsen, pled guilty Aug. 26 to charges
of DWI (operate snowmobile or ATV) filed Aug. 3, the court
having dismissed additional charges of operating an unregistered
ATV and wetland disturbance (off-highway vehicle, operate in
willful, wanton or reckless manner). Sentenced to 60 days in jail,
stayed one year with probation and conditions, and ordered to
pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $1,085.
