Matters of Record




The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. It is the Cook County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

Colton Deschampe, 24, Grand Marais, pled guilty March 12 to charges of DWI filed April 17, 2017, the court having dismissed additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. Sentenced to 180 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $1,165.

Timothy Alvin Overbye, 31, Mt. Iron, pled guilty March 12 to charges of DWI filed Nov. 27, 2017, the court having dismissed additional charges of expired registration, open bottle, driving without a valid license for vehicle class, and no current medical certificate in possession. Sentenced to 180 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $1,590.

Dee Hang, 27, St. Paul, pled guilty March 23 to speeding (70/55) on Feb. 24, and was fined $150.

Michael Joseph Nielson, 28, St. Stephen, pled guilty April 2 to DNR hunting/firearms violations on Nov. 4, and was fined $790.

Maria Fernanda Lara-Chavez, 23, Robbinsdale, pled guilty April 4 to speeding (71/55) on March 19, and was fined $150.
