Matters of Record




The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. It is the Cook County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

Alex Michael Glasnapp, 29, Grand Marais, pled guilty Oct. 9 to charges of criminal vehicular operation (bodily harm, leave scene of collision) filed April 25. Sentenced Nov. 27 to 365 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $50 fine plus court costs and fees, plus $258 restitution for a total of $398.

Jennifer Mary Yliniemi, 30, Grand Rapids, pled guilty Oct. 27 to charges of disorderly conduct on June 16, 2016, and was sentenced Nov. 27 to 90 days in jail, stayed one year with supervised probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $50 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $140.

Joseph Edward Carlson, 52, Grand Marais, pled guilty Dec. 19 to DNR charges of deer hunting violations (may not hunt with aid or use of bait) and fish and game violations (take big game and wolves with illegal firearms) filed Nov. 14, and was fined $1,090.
