The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. Mathew Brian Beckstrand, 54, Aitkin, was convicted Nov. 19 of driving while impaired (DWI) and driving after revocation on May 13, the court having dismissed additional charges of open bottle (possession) and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Sentenced to 270 days in jail and ordered to pay a fine of $100 plus court costs and fees for a total of $190.
Clayton Howard Deschampe, 67, Grand Portage, pled guilty Sept. 28 to charges of driving while impaired (DWI) filed June 15, and was sentenced Nov. 23 to one year in jail, stayed with three years supervised probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $1,090.
