Matters of Record





The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform
the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the
potential punishment exceeds $100 and/or 10 days in jail. All fines have
additional surcharges and fees and may be much higher. It is the Cook
County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete
record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

William Raymond Rossbach,
54, Maplewood, pled guilty Jan. 6 to DNR violations of hunting (taking wild animal with firearm from motor vehicle) and trespass (taking wild animal with firearm within 500 feet of occupied building) on Nov. 8, the court having dismissed an additional charge of transporting illegal big game. Ordered to pay a fine of $300 and restitution of $250, plus court costs and fees for a total of $640.

Michael Andrew Morris,
36, Grand Marais, pled guilty Jan. 6 to a charge of recklessly handling or using dangerous weapons on Aug. 5, and was sentenced to one year in the county jail, stayed two years with probation and conditions, and ordered to pay court costs and fees totaling $105.

Esten Jacob Nelson,
32, Grand Marais, pled guilty Jan. 6 to obstructing the legal process (interfere with a peace officer) on June 13, the court having dismissed additional charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and reckless driving. Sentenced to 90 days in the county jail, stayed two years with probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $590.

Waylon James Christensen,
30, Schroeder, pled guilty Jan. 6 to driving while intoxicated (DWI) on Dec. 2, the court having dismissed three additional charges (DWI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia). Sentenced to 30 days in the county jail, stayed two years with probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $615.

Scott Rodelius Severinson,
54, Plymouth, pled guilty Jan. 6 to DNR violations of hunting (taking wild animal with firearm from motor vehicle) and trespass (taking wild animal with firearm within 500 feet of occupied building) on Nov. 8. Ordered to pay a fine of $300 and restitution of $250, plus court costs and fees for a total of $640.

Lance Jeffrey Johnson,
46, Grand Portage, pled guilty Jan. 6 to charges of DWI filed June 19, the court having dismissed an additional similar charge. Sentenced to 42 months at the State Correctional Facility at St. Cloud, stayed seven years with probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs and fees for a total of $615.

Cory Dan Wilson,
30, Grand Marais, pled guilty Jan. 20 to charges of criminal damage to property on Aug. 18; DWI (refuse to submit to test) and driving after revocation on Nov. 2; and DWI on Sept. 13. The court dismissed six additional related charges. Sentenced to one year and 180 days in the county jail, which is to be served through the Sentence To Serve program.
