Matters of Record




The Cook County News-Herald publishes Matters of Record to inform the public of arraignments and dispositions of criminal cases in which the potential punishment exceeds $150 and/or 10 days in jail. It is the Cook County News-Herald’s policy that this information contains a complete record. Requests for items to be withheld will not be granted.

Janine C. Talosig, 31, Ontario, pled guilty Dec. 17 to speeding (74/55) on Dec. 13 and was fined $150.

Nathan Paul Kettunen, 26, Grand Marais, pled guilty Oct. 28 to charges of disorderly conduct and violation of a domestic abuse no contact order filed Sept. 30, and was sentenced Nov. 24 to 365 days in jail, stayed two years with supervised probation and conditions and ordered to pay a $500 fine for each offense plus court costs and fees.

Margaret Bannon, 53, Ontario, pled guilty Dec. 15 to speeding (72/55) on Dec. 12, and was fined $150.

Thomas Cole Anderson, 18, Grand Marais, pled guilty Dec. 23 to speeding (65/50) on Nov. 30, and was fined $150.

Rueben Boy Taylor, 21, McGregor, pled guilty Dec. 19 to charges of disorderly conduct and underage consumption filed Aug. 10, 2013, and was sentenced Dec. 22 to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling $190.

Merlin John Sherer, 38, Duluth, pled guilty Dec. 24 to charges of theft of services filed Oct. 25, the court having dismissed an additional charge of possession of drugs/paraphernalia. Sentenced to 90 days in jail, stayed one year with probation and conditions, and ordered to pay a $100 fine, court costs and fees totaling $140, and restitution of $238.69.

Jean-Guy Fortier, 49, Ontario, pled guilty Dec. 24 to speeding (74/55) on Dec. 13 and was fined $150.
