Mary Jo Winchell,
87, of Richfield, passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2010.
Mary Jo was born March 23, 1922 in Racine, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harrison; mother, Amy Connolly; brother, James Connolly; and many dear friends and relatives.
A former kindergarten teacher in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, she was joyously employed at Regina High School for 12 years.
A member of St. Mary’s Auxiliary, Mary Jo worked at Fairview Southdale Hospital for over 15 years, greeting families and providing information.
She is survived by children William Harrison III (Barbara), Patricia Winchell-Dahl (Arvid Dahl) of Grand Portage, Mary Katherine, Margaret (Bill Devins), and Jim (Peggy); adored grandchildren Leslie, Amy, Thomas, Kellie and Amy Irene.
She was a wonderful friend, cancer survivor and a true Irish matriarch.
A Mass of Christian Burial and services were held Feb. 27 in Minneapolis. The family requests memorials be directed to the Sisters of St. Joseph or Christ the King Retreat.
