Mary Ellen Ashcroft, Ph.D. will present Recreate! Finding Ways to Rest and Refresh in the Midst of Demanding Lives at the next Cook County Business Network luncheon on Wednesday, May 25.
Most of us know that feeling when we move beyond busy to crazy, and how easy it is to lose our joy, our centeredness, our creativity, even our ability to do our best work. Spirituality underlines a focus found in many great faiths – that of Sabbath, of soul restoration, of respite. Before the summer begins, we’ll take time to find practical ways to find moments of rest that can add to our quality of life and the effectiveness of our work.
Ashcroft, was an English professor for 25 years at Kalamazoo College and Bethel University. She has written a number of books, and in Cook County she started WindCradle Retreat. She is vicar of Spirit of the Wilderness Episcopal Church.
The Cook County Business Network luncheon is sponsored by Cook County Higher Education and the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund’s Women’s Business Network. All people interested in learning more about finding ways to rest and refresh in the midst of demanding lives are invited to attend the luncheon. The presentation and lunch will be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chez Jude Restaurant in Grand Marais. The cost for the luncheon and presentation is $12.
