We are sad to announce the passing of Mary E. Olson on August 7, 2022, age 65, of Grand Marais, Minnesota.
Mary was born on May 23, 1957, to Grace and Donald Johnson of Grand Marais, MN. She attended and graduated from Cook County High School in 1975. She married Greg Olson on July 26th, 1986. Together they had four children Angela, Jessica, Trisha, and Steven.
Mary was a beautiful woman and wonderful mother, daughter, sister/ sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Always willing to help and support others, to offer a friendly ear when needed, and brought a sense of joy to everyone she met. She loved Lake Superior with the sound of crashing waves, rock hunting, and enjoying coffee with friends. Her love for family was absolute. Her world revolved around her family and would do everything she could to support them in their dreams and accept them as they were.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Donald and mother, Grace Johnson, brothers David and Richard Eliasen, and granddaughter Ashley Hill.
Mary is survived by her husband Greg, daughters, Angela, Jessica (Jordon) Whitney, Trisha, son Steven, granddaughters Kayla, Melissa and Catera, grandsons Dillon and Ethan, great grand-daughter Paisley, and her brothers Larry (Dorothy) Eliasen, Tom (Honey) Eliasen, Fran (Jo) Johnson, Charles Johnson, Jim (Ann) Johnson, Bill (Connie) Johnson, and Bob (Mary Ann) Johnson along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on August 29th, 2022, with a Potluck from 11a.m.-2 p.m. at the Grand Marais Community Center.
