Saying five years was enough, Cook County/ Grand Marais Joint Economic Development Authority (EDA) Chairman Mike Littfin said it was time to give up the gavel—if he actually had a gavel—and turn his duties over to someone else. Mark Sandbo replaced Littfin at the EDA’s annual organizational meeting on February 14.
Littfin was praised by the board and EDA Director Matt Geretschlaeger for his hard, conscientious work at the EDA’s annual reorganization meeting.
Hal Greenwood was voted in as the new vice chair while Don Davison was voted in as secretary and Bruce Martinson voted in as treasurer.
“I can’t say enough about the work that Mike has done,” said Geretschleger, adding, “Especially in light of my going down to part-time. Someone had to pick up the slack when that happened and that was Mike. He went far above and beyond the call of his duties in doing so. I’ve been around long enough to see what other chairmen have done and Mike stands out.”
Sandbo said that now that he was chair, Littfin’s previous work would really stand out.
After everyone got done laughing Littfin thanked the board for its support and added, “Just because I’m not going to be chairman doesn’t mean I’m leaving. I’ll still be a member of the EDA.”
