Mark Patrick Ceminsky, 38, of Grand Marais, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2014.
Mark was born in St. Paul, the oldest of three children born to Jane and Dave Ceminsky.
Mark grew up in Duluth and graduated from East High School in 1994. Mark worked for Ridgeview Country Club during his high school years.
He then began a career with North Star Ford, working as a technician for many years.
Everyone who knew Mark realized he was an avid outdoorsman. He held his first fishing rod at one day old and fishing and hunting became a lifelong passion.
Mark fulfilled his passion on Lake Saganaga, where he began fishing at the age of 12. He most recently resided at the end of the Gunflint Trail working for Voyageur Canoe Outfitters. Mark often said he was most at peace, while living in the surroundings he so loved.
As a resident of the Gunflint Trail, Mark did what came naturally to him. He helped others. He fixed their boat motors, pulled them out of the ditch, repaired their vehicles and helped out wherever and whenever he was needed. He was very involved in fundraisers on the Gunflint Trail and helped organize canoes for the Gunflint Trail Canoe Races and volunteered numerous hours for both Mush for a Cure and the Ham Run Half-Marathon.
He was a friend to everyone he met and made a lasting impression on all. His kindness, sincerity and generosity were unmatched.
He loved the wilderness, Saganaga Lake and the end of the Gunflint Trail. He enjoyed fishing in both the summer and winter and was always willing to tell you honestly where the fish were biting. He liked the neighborhood wildlife including the many moose and visiting fox. He also liked his time with kitty who will very much miss Mark’s lap to snuggle on.
Those who knew Mark know that he is in heaven and his heaven looks a lot like Saganaga Lake. He’s in a boat, reeling in a monster walleye and the weather is perfect without a mosquito to be seen. He’s got an extra pole all rigged up and ready for whenever a friend or family member joins him, and he’s got that big smile on his face, one you can never forget.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Mark and MaryAnn Ceminsky and grandfather Gregory Sheehy.
He is survived by his parents Dave and Jane Ceminsky; one sister Jodie (Chris) Suomala; one brother Michael; grandmother Regina Sheehy; nephew Cailen Suomala, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15 at The First Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
