Longtime nursing instructor at Cook County Higher Education, Mark Abrahamson, was recognized on Saturday, December 7 when the nursing lab classroom was named in his honor. Students, former students, colleagues and community members came to celebrate the dedication of the Mark Abrahamson Classroom at the Cook County Higher Education (CCHE) North Shore campus on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
The evening included a tour of the campus and the lower level nursing lab classroom where Abrahamson has been serving as the instructor for all of the Higher Ed nursing assistant classes, in addition to teaching licensed practical nursing and registered nursing clinicals for the past 17 years.
Attendees heard from Abrahamson and many of his students about the impact of the CCHE programs on the community. And, they were able to see the beautiful classroom sign created by Steve Byers that will hang in a place of honor.
CCHE Director Paula Sundet Wolf said, “Thank you so much to everyone who attended (or emailed support) for the Mark Abrahamson Classroom dedication event on Saturday. We had such an excellent time!”
Sundet Wolf noted that the event was also an opportunity to make a donation to continued programs at CCHE, in particular the nursing classes. “So far we have raised over $1,500 which will be used for Mark Abrahamson Classroom needs, in particular the bed screens for training our nursing assistants, and student support services, which includes scholarships and the mentor program.”
“Thanks to board members, staff, and other generous patrons of education, we have matching funds on the table so this is an excellent time to make your contribution count even more,” said Sundet Wolf.
