Marjorie June (Potter) Nelson, 80, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Carefree Living in Silver Bay, Minnesota.
Marge was born June 9, 1936 to George and Lillian (Waananen) Potter in Hovland.
She was a graduate of Cook County High School and married Eugene E. Nelson in 1954. Together, they raised three children.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Grand Marais.
She owned and operated Marge’s Local Beauty Shop from her home in Grand Marais and then from her home on Devil Track Lake.
Marge will always be remembered for her love of country music. She loved to entertain with her guitar and sing. Other hobbies included spending time at Devil Track Lake, bowling, snowmobiling, spending time with family and friends, and family pets.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, brother Merle Potter, and sister Mildred Thoreson.
She is survived by her children, Rob Nelson, Sherri Carlson, and Gina (Kelly) Nelson Schliep; grandchildren, Lena (Jeremy) Rux, Laramie Carlson, David Carlson and Ben Nelson; sisters,
Pat Holte, Honey (Tom) Eliasen; and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery on North Road in Hovland. Following the burial, the family invites everyone to join them at Grandma Ray’s (the former Legion) from 4 to 6 p.m. to share stories and memories of Marge.
