On Monday, September 30, 2019, Marian (Snooks) Sevelin passed away at the age of 85 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Bellingham, Wa.
Marian was born to Lester and Marian Parker at home near Foxboro, Wisconsin. She was raised on a small farm with her seven siblings. She worked for room and board with a family in Superior to finish her last two years of high school, graduating from Central High School in Superior.
In November of 1951, she married David Charles Hess. They lived and worked in the Minneapolis area, having two boys, Charles Lester Hess and David Micheal Hess. In 1961 Linda Marie Hess was born, and one month later, they moved to the Flutereed Store in Hovland, Mn. They had two more children, Jan Darline Hess, and Timothy Dean Hess. Together the family ran the store and bar. Tim passed away in Dec. of 1980, and Dave passed in April of 1981. Marian continued to run the store where she met Charles Sevelin. She closed the store in September of 1985. Marian and Chuck married on June 26, 1984. They traveled abroad for Chuck’s work and became snowbirds when he retired. Summers were spent on Chester Lake and winters in New Mexico. Chuck passed away on November 7, 2013. Marian moved in with Linda and Rusty Nicolaison in Grand Marais and then moved with them to Bellingham, WA, where she enjoyed living with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Timothy and David (Binky), her husband Dave and second husband Chuck, her brother Bill and her great-granddaughter Pricilla.
She is survived by her children Chuck, Linda, and Jan, her sisters Lydia, Marge, Jean, her brothers Mike, Steve, John, and a great number of grand and great-grandchildren.
She did not want a public funeral service; instead, we will have a small private family service next summer.
