Spring is in the air for residents at North Shore Care Center—especially with our unusually warm temperatures— and the first day of spring right around the corner. March will also bring Daylight Saving Time for us to spring forward, and St. Patrick’s Day—a time to enjoy Irish-American Month.
There will be outings in March for lunch at the Senior Center and a shopping trip downtown for Easter supplies and goodies.
The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 14 to honor Gertrude Scott, Dorothy Mottl and Audrey Haring. Cake and ice cream will be served at 2:30 p.m. with piano music performed by Doug Sanders. Some students from the After School Lounge Program will join us for bingo after the party, too.
St. Patrick’s Day festivities will begin with Pot of Gold Bingo on Thursday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. There will be shamrock cookie baking on Friday, March 16 and an Irish stew dinner on Saturday, March 17. The Lioness Club members will also host their monthly social for residents on St. Patrick’s Day with delicious desserts served at 3 p.m. Favorite Irish songs will be played on the piano by Irene Thompson.
At the end of the month the band Portage will perform their classic country music at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31. Portage plays at the Care Center the last Saturday of each month throughout the year and family, friends and community folks are welcome to join the fun.
Additional activities planned for March will include Lenten services, “Women in History” sessions, craft projects, church services, Bible study, reading groups, exercise groups, weekly bingo, potting indoor plants and live music with Al Fuller, Susan Scherer and Myron Bursheim.
Let’s hope that March will “go out like a lamb” to give everyone more energy and Spring Fever!
