March happenings at North Shore Health Living

February seems to have flown by for the residents at North Shore Health Living. There were a lot of indoor activities to keep us busy, and fun events for both Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras. As the days get longer, the residents are looking forward to spring!

The March calendar at North Shore Living is filled with a variety of activities, as we patiently wait for warmer weather. The residents have been working on hand-made greeting cards that they plan to sell. The money raised will be used to purchase some metal artwork for the patio. We also will be making some St. Patty’s Day crafts. Everyone looks forward to the annual “Pot of Gold” Bingo on March 12 in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. There will also be a St. Patrick’s Day Happy Hour on March 17 at 2 p.m.

Our monthly birthday party will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 3 p.m. This month we will honor Bob Sherman; friends and family are welcome to join us in the celebration. There will be music by Doug Sanders, and lots of cake and ice cream too.

We’re hoping for springlike weather on March 19, the first day of spring, when several residents will go on an outing to The Hub (Senior Center) for lunch, and social time with our friends there.

The W.I.S.E. group will host a social event on March 21 at 3 p.m. with some delicious desserts and music.

There will be a variety of music events in March. The Middle and High School choir will perform on March 17 at 1:30 p.m. It’s always a delight to have such talented students perform for us. Myron Bursheim will play folk music for us on Sundays: March 15, 22, and 29 at 2:30 p.m. Susan Scherer will play piano for us on Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. There will be a sing-a-long with Pastor Daren on March 16 at 1 p.m. Amy Schmidt and friends will perform for the residents on March 23 at 2 p.m. We are so grateful for our musically talented volunteers who bring the joy of music to our home.

We welcome the Portage Band on Saturday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. for a delightful evening of country music. Family and friends are invited to join us in the fun!

Towards the end of the month, the residents will begin a community service filling Easter eggs with treats for the Community Easter Egg Hunt to be held on April 11. The residents have participated in this project in the past, and are looking forward to doing it again. It brings joy to their hearts, knowing they are doing something that will be enjoyed so much by the youngsters of their community.

When it’s cold outside, it’s time to bring the fun indoors! One game that always brings out the laughter is “balloon volleyball”.
