The Grand Marais Art Colony will present a great opportunity to learn how to make bowls, all for a good cause, at the “Make-a-Bowl for Empty Bowls” event which began on Sept. 30 and runs through Oct. 22. Proceeds benefit the Cook County Food Shelf.
The sessions will be held every Sunday at 2 p.m., and Mondays at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 per session (pre-register). Contact the Art Colony to pre-register at (218) 387-2737.
Twelve percent of Cook County residents are hungry every month. Therefore, each year the Art Colony organizes the Empty Bowls dinner (on Nov. 8), a community art fundraiser for the local food shelf. The bowls made at the event will be used during the dinner.
Participants will learn to make two different kinds of bowls: a hand-built and a wheel-thrown. Make-a-Bowl is open to all levels and ages. Get muddy, learn new skills, and have fun, all for a good cause.
