Lutsen Township launches website

The Lutsen Town Board approved the launch of its website at the Marchboard meeting. The website includes contact for township officials, townhall rental information and many nice photos of the Lutsen area.

At the Lutsen Town Board meeting in February, supervisors reviewed responses to a request for estimates for creation of a township website.

Two proposals were received and the low bid, from Lutsen resident, Ben Belland was accepted. Belland returned to the March 17, 2015 meeting to present the nearly-complete Lutsen township website.

The two bids were from Two Dogs in the Web and from Belland. Belland’s bid was the lowest, at $750 for set-up.

Town Clerk Amity Goettl said, “Either way we go, I’m excited about having it there. I just had a call from someone today who wanted to go to our website for town hall rental application.”

Belland was at the February meeting with a rough mock-up of what the website could look like. He said the photos on the draft website were included in the set-up charge. Future photos provided by Belland would be $75 each.

However, Belland explained that once the website was set up, it would be very easy for anyone authorized by the township to make changes and to add photos themselves. If the township needed assistance from Belland once the website was complete, the charge would be $30 per hour. At the February meeting,

Supervisor Andrew Beavers said, “I like it. It seems to have a lot of what I envisioned for the town’s website. It just needs some filling-in-the-blanks from us.”

The board voted to accept the proposal from Belland unanimously.

Belland returned with a more complete website at the March meeting and the town board and community viewed it on the large-screen television in the town hall. He said it was almost finished, but an introductory paragraph about Lutsen was needed for the home page. Supervisor Beavers said he would put something together for Belland. In the meantime, the board agreed that the website could go online. The Lutsen Town Board website can be seen at www.LutsenTownship.com.
