Folks lined up in droves for the 2023 Lutsen Rummage Sale held on July 15.

Eager shoppers descended on the grounds of Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. sharp. No early shopping is allowed, so it’s first come, first serve. Whatever was left after Saturday was on sale the next day with a deep discount.

This year, just over $9,000 was raised, said Sharon Hexum Platzer, one of the longtime helpers of the sale.

“It was a good turnout but specifically want to thank the community at large…. first for giving and donating treasures….and helping with set up and clean up,” said Hexum-Platzer.

Sandy McHugh, along with 2023 Rummage Sale Core Committee organizers Nancy Iverson, Louise Abelon, and Shelia Rudin, expressed appreciation for the donors and community who attended.

“The Lutsen Lutheran Rummage Sale Core Committee would like to thank the community for their support of our annual event. As always, it was very much a community event,” said McHugh. “We appreciated the donations, our hard-working volunteers, and all the shoppers who helped make this possible! It was fun to see the many connections and re-connections being made as the day progressed. All of which helped to raise over $9,000. The proceeds are being shared with Care Partners of Cook County, North Point Youth Center, and Lutsen Lutheran Church. None of this is possible without the dedication of each person who was involved, and we thank you!”

If you weren’t able to make it this year, there is always next year.
