Lutsen pancakes a fall tradition

For 14 years, the Lutsen Volunteer Fire Department has been sponsoring a Fall Pancake Breakfast. This year’s event will be held at the Fire Hall on Sunday, September 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Visitors can expect a hearty breakfast of pancakes made with former firefighter/ chef Sonja Helland’s delicious recipe, real maple syrup from local maple syrup producers, eggs, bacon, and sausage. Along with the great food is the good company of friends and neighbors from all over the county, who know that this is a breakfast not to be missed.

Over the years the breakfast has netted thousands of dollars for the fire department, which has been used to meet a variety of equipment needs for the department, such as a First Responder vehicle. Proceeds have also been donated to the Red Cross after the 9/11 tragedy, Hurricane Katrina and for a scholarship for local graduates pursuing careers in emergency services.
