A 20-year-old man’s life was tragically cut short in a Lake County River accident on Friday, May 12.
Saunder Strong, originally from Minneapolis, lived and worked in Lutsen when his body was found shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday.
The Lake County Sheriff ’s office received a call just before noon on Friday about an empty red kayak floating down the Caribou River upstream from the parking lot.
State Park Ranger from Tettegouche State Park and a team from the Lake County Sheriff ’s Office went to investigate and, after searching the water and shoreline, found the victim’s body on shore shortly before 2 p.m.
At the time of the report, there was no word on what led to his death.
