We wrapped up our First Annual Community Back- To-School Supply Drive. The community did such an excellent job providing assurance for a positive start to the school year for local children.
On Friday, September 4, the Senior Center presented the supplies to a group of ISD 166 students along with staff member Anna Sandstrom.
The students volunteered to be a part of this experience which included a lot of packing, unpacking, sorting and counting.
The staff at ISD will have access to and be the sensitive provider for handing out these supplies when they see specific needs in their classroom. This supply drive was an incredible community event that had the extra blessing of providing an opportunity to bring the generations together. The Senior Center extends a heartfelt thank you to all who so generously donated the assortment of supplies during the month of August.
The next fundraiser that is in the works is the Senior Center’s 1st Annual Community Food Shelf Drive. Hunger and low food security are real issues in our community and I believe that through the generous support of the community, the Food Shelf will have what it needs to help families receive enough food to prepare balanced meals. Details and dates will be announced soon.
