Lorraine Duininck, 89, of Grand Marais died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais.
She was born April 18, 1924 in Franklin, Minnesota to Charles and Lula (Waters) Seaman. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Redwood Falls. She grew up in the rural Hector area where she attended District 115 School and graduated from Hector High School in 1942. Later she went on to graduate from Paul’s Hairdressing Academy in Minneapolis and worked for Jean’s Beauty Shop in Minneapolis for three years.
On September 13, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Duininck, and they continued living and working in Minneapolis until 1946, when they moved to Renville, Minnesota. For many years she owned and operated a beauty shop in Renville. She was a member of the Emden Christian Reformed Church.
She and Bill spent many winters in Florida and in 1990 moved to Willmar. In 2009 they moved to Grand Marais to live with their daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter Barb (Mike) Youngquist, one granddaughter, Kristen (Tim Theisen), one grandson, Jeff (Amy Youngquist), four great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. To sign the online guestbook please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Christian Reformed Church in Willmar.
