Log rolling tournament was community effort

The wonderful log rolling event at Fisherman’s Picnic would not have happened without a huge community effort.

The North Shore Rollers were helped by many people—Niel and Jenny Atkinson for letting the North Shore Rollers use their tank, the Grand Marais Lions Club for letting the tank back in “our spot” and the people who helped set it up and take it down—Glenn Peterson, Eric Anderson, David Plummer, Tony Everson, and Peter Henrikson.

The team appreciates the awesome trophies made by Peter and Amy Henrikson and thanks Betsy Perry for making all the banners on such short notice.

The event wouldn’t have worked without Deb Waage, our official timer, and Jessica Berg-Collman who spent countless house in the cold water tank helping kids learn how to roll.

The event went off well because of support of all the major sponsors such as Arrowhead Pharmacy, Clearview General Store, Glenn Peterson Construction, Studio 61 Hair Design, Steve’s Sports, Stone Harbor, Northstar Cabling, EscSystems. Other businesses that lent support were Jason Hill Excavating, Jenny Atkinson.com, Collman Stone Sculpting, Grand Marais Pool, Seagull Creek Fishing Camp, and Collman Sawmill.

Thank you to Tony and Andrea Everson and Julie Collman. If it weren’t for you the tournament wouldn’t have happened!

And last but not least, the parents!

Because of all of you we were able to make our tournament at Fisherman’s Picnic a huge success and because of you we were able to show our families what we have learned in a sport that is unique and growing.

It was great to have our fellow competitors and friends come from all different parts of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota to compete with us!
