Although the overall Cook County lodging report for April was down—probably a reflection of the nasty wild winter weather—the numbers for the Lutsen, Tofte and Schroeder (LTTA) area were up. LTTA collected $19,464.93 this April while last year they took in $17,453.62 for the same period.
The Grand Marais Area Tourism Association reported $3,878.40 this year, down from last April’s $5,065.87 tally.
Last April the Gunflint Trail Association reported $1,439.78 and just $853.64 this year.
When compared to last year, county lodging taxes for the Gunflint Trail are down 3.3 percent for the year, down 6.3 percent for the year in the Grand Marais area, and down 1.4 percent for the LTTA area.
The monthly lodging report does not contain all quarterly annual payments.
