County-wide, year-to-date lodging taxes through the end of August are down six percent from same period last year.
When comparing apples-to apples, Lutsen/Tofte Tourism Association’s lodging taxes are $767,746.40 through August 2022, down 6.5 percent from 2021 through August.
Grand Marais Tourism Association reported a 5.2 percent drop from last year with lodging taxes totaling $277,549.72 through this August.
The Gunflint Trail Tourism Association is down 3.7 percent through seven months of operation with $140,771.21 in lodging taxes.
One percent sales tax and transportation tax
Meanwhile Cook County’s one percent local option sales tax through seven months of 2022 are up 5.4 percent and the county’s .5 percent Transportation Tax is up 7 percent over the first seven months of 2021.
