“Exhilarating.” That’s one-word Bryann Bockovich used to describe this year’s Polar Plunge held in Duluth, Minnesota.
Over the last 21 years, the Duluth Polar Plunge has raised more than $2,558,554. This year’s Plunge took place on February 18 at Park Point, where 624 people took the big Sploosh into a cold Lake Superior and raised $165,530.

Over the years, Bryan has been involved in a dozen plunges, some held in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, and Duluth.
Bryann’s team is called “Holli’s Hope,” which is named for Holli McClellan, a Special Olympics athlete who is the daughter of Linda McClellan, one of Bryann’s best friends.
Dollars earned from these cold water dunks go to Special Olympics Minnesota, which provides year-round training and services to thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities in Minnesota.
As for next year, Bryann plans to participate again in the Polar Plunge. However, she and her husband plan on moving to Florida, “So, I might have to take a plane back home to participate in the plunge because I’m pretty sure there isn’t a Polar Plunge anywhere in Florida.”
