It was a cold day to run, said Christopher Kipyego, the men’s winner of the 31st annual running of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon held October 6.
But for residents of Cook County the 28 degree temperatures were fine, a little on the cool side, but nothing they couldn’t handle.
Mark Abrahamson, 57, had a great run. Abrahamson finished in 3:53:58, one of his best marathon times in many years.
Shelly Norman said she learned one hard lesson about the marathon, “train before you race!”
Not a bad thought. But still, Norman, 54, finished in a respectable 5:43:12 and, as she said, “I came away uninjured.” Which is always a good thing.
Kipyego’s men’s winning time was 2:14:55 and the women’s winner was Jeannette Faber of Portland, Oregon, who ran an excellent time of 2:32:38.
