Local students in History Day competition

Anderson advances to State



Three Cook County Middle School students—Adam Dorr, Leif Anderson, and Jack Peck—participated in the Northeast Regional History Day event on Saturday, March 14. Anderson will be advancing to the State History competition. Dorr is competing in another event, the National History Bee as well.

Three Cook County Middle School students—Adam Dorr, Leif Anderson, and Jack Peck—participated in the Northeast Regional History Day event on Saturday, March 14. Anderson will be advancing to the State History competition. Dorr is competing in another event, the National History Bee as well.

Three Cook County Middle School students traveled to the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday, March 14 for the Northeast Regional History Day.

Social Studies Teacher Dorie Carlson explained that History Day is a national competition where students research a theme and present their projects in one of five ways. She said they may do a website, exhibit, performance, documentary or write a research paper. The national theme for 2015 is Leadership and Legacy.

Leif Anderson will be advancing to the State History Day competition at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus on May 5. Anderson submitted in the Junior Individual category with an exhibit titled Alfred Nobel: A Spark of Inspiration.

Also participating in the History Day event were Adam Dorr who created a website entry, George Patton: Leadership and Legacy. Jack Peck researched and submitted Steve Jobs: Leadership and Legacy in Technology.
