Sophomores, juniors, and selected seniors at Cook County High School had the opportunity to attend the “Pathway to Careers” event held at the DECC in Duluth on October 29. The event started with a catered breakfast for the approximately 1,500 students traveling from the Northeast Minnesota area.
Students attended breakout sessions in the career clusters of healthcare, manufacturing and trades, business and finance, transportation, natural resources, engineering, public services and education, and technology and communication. In addition to the workshops, students were given the opportunity to speak with professionals from a number of fields.
Cook County High School Academic and Career Guidance Coordinator Amanda Burggraff, Principal Adam Nelson, Native American Student Advisor Lena Santos, and chaperone Kris Phillips attended with 30 Cook County students.
One student commented, “I gained insight on fields I am curious about. Speaking to professionals gave me unique perspectives and let me see into the world of banking and finance.”
Students and chaperones wish to thank the Cook County School District Education Foundation for funding the Pathway to Careers trip.
